Being visible for our business can be challenging for a lot of people, especially those who identify as introverts.
I’ve heard them say: “I hate promoting myself” and “I hate marketing.” Here’s the thing: We all have to do some marketing to be visible to our prospective clients.
So, what now?
What if there’s a different way to think about marketing so that it feels easy and you feel excited to do it?
Buckle up for a perspective shift
It comes with a story.
Recently a client of mine said, “I’m afraid to be in the spotlight for my business.”
I said, “What if it’s not a spotlight? What if it’s a porch light?” The words just flew out of me.
Her eyes got wide and she said, “I can do that!” Suddenly, it didn’t feel horrible to put herself “out there.” It felt good.
There’s a big energetic difference between spotlights and porch lights.
In the spotlight, there’s pressure to perform. All eyes are on you. You have to DO something.
Turning on your porch light makes it easy for the people who need you to find you.
It’s about magnetizing – attracting – not promoting.
People can’t find you if they can’t see you. Nobody can see invisible things.
It’s not about YOU, beloved introvert, it’s about THEM – the people you already care about and who you want to help. They need you.
Your porch light is your clear message. It tells people who you are, what you do, how you serve them, and the benefits of working with you.
It’s always just the truth.
What would you say if you were just going to tell the simple truth about what you do? How can you turn on your porch light?
